Professional Guitar Tuition - Electric & Acoustic

I began playing keyboards and computer sequencing when I was
twelve years old, swiftly progressing onto learning classical piano
and taking lessons.
When I was fifteen I discovered the guitar and realised I had found
my instrument, dedicating myself to it and practising for at least
8 hours a day for 2 years.
I completed a 2 year music course (2001-2003), gaining an
Advanced Diploma in Contemporary Popular Musics. During this
time I produced several bands, composed music and played with
other musicians including being in a heavy metal band.
I had weekly guitar lessons with Paul Hill, who broadened my
horizons by teaching me to play jazz guitar in addition to
encouraging my interest in mastering neo-classical lead guitar.
I learned the major scale and all of the modes in every fretboard
position for the entire neck plus chord and arpeggio theory and
realised that these are the building blocks for all styles of music.
In 2003 I co-founded Zumba, a latin jazz band, writing and
performing original songs and covers, gigged for over 2 years and
recorded an album. The gigs we played included the UEA,
Norwich Arts Centre, The Waterfront and we were house band at
the Gas Station Club Night.
Other music projects have included co-writing & playing session
guitar for Fuji ads.
My love of music has led me to learn a number of instruments:
electric & acoustic guitar (nylon & steel), bass guitar, sitar, oud,
mandolin, piano, keyboards, drum kit, dumbek, percussion .............
Although I specialise in guitar, my experience with other instruments
has fed back into my guitar playing.
I had always helped my peers with guitar playing, theory and all
aspects of music so I decided to teach professionally and now
have experience of teaching ages 9-60+ in a wide range of styles.
I am a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT) and have also
completed a Tutor Training course, receiving my ITT qualification.
